BYRON BAY CUP – SUNDAY 29 AUGUST 2010

The Ballina Jockey Club is pleased and excited to announce that the Byron Bay Cup will be run on Sunday 29 August. This marks the 122nd anniversary of the first running of the Byron Bay Cup.

Ballina Jockey Club CEO, Sarah Wills said yesterday “The Byron Bay Cup race day is growing in stature to be one of the most important events on the Northern Rivers racing calendar. This year it is being promoted with the Ballina Cup as part of the Ballina Spring Racing Carnival”.

The Chairman of the Ballina Jockey Club, Robert Pitt said “We are delighted that SPAR Supermarkets will once again be sponsoring the Cup. We have also had great support from the Byron Bay business community with all races being sponsored by local businesses! This is a great day, not only for racing but for the Byron community to come together and celebrate Byron Bay itself.”

The Jockey Club is again hosting the 100 Club Supporters Trackside Marquee. Tickets are available from the Club’s ambassador to Byron Bay, Ross King on 0412 361 786.

The Trackside Marquee tickets include bus transport to and from the races, gate entry and entry into the marquee where complimentary food and drinks will be available throughout the afternoon.

Advance purchase tickets for general admissions are available from the Byron Bay Services Club and also include bus transport to and from the races.

Miss Wills said “This is a day planned for excitement and fun for the Byron Bay community which we hope will be well supported.”
